FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: National Internal Security Governance & Coordination Conference Concludes in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, 2 September 2026 — The Ministry of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia today concluded the National Internal Security Governance & Coordination Conference, held on 1–2 September 2026 at The Hangar in Mogadishu under the theme “Strengthening governance of the internal security sector.” The conference focused on enhancing governance and oversight of internal security agencies, deepening inter-agency coordination, and building a financially sustainable and self-reliant security sector.

The high-level opening session featured remarks by H.E. Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, Minister of Internal Security, and was officially opened by the Speaker of the House of the People and Acting President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hon. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur (Jaamac). The conference brought together federal and Federal Member State (FMS) security institutions, the Federal Parliament, and key government ministries — including Interior, Defence, and Endowments and Islamic Affairs — alongside international partners from the United Nations Transition Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), as well as diplomatic missions, security experts, and other stakeholders.
