The Ministry of Internal Security is mandated to safeguard national stability and public safety through close coordination with key law enforcement and security institutions, including the Somali Police Force, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), the Immigration and Citizenship Agency, and other relevant bodies.

The Ministry formulates and implements modern security policies aimed at addressing internal threats and strengthening national resilience. It oversees intelligence operations, coordinates emergency response mechanisms, and enhances collaboration among security agencies to ensure effective protection of the nation.

In addition, the Ministry supervises immigration management and border security operations, regulating entry and exit procedures to support national security monitoring and maintain the integrity of the country’s borders.
